Weather warning – are you and your customers weather ready?

In 2014 the UK was hit by a barrage of storms – heavy rain combined with strong winds and high waves led to widespread flooding and coastal damage, causing significant disruption.  In fact it was so bad that December 13 and January 14 were the wettest in the UK since records began.

However, when the worst happens we step up to deliver the LV= difference, looking after you when you really need us.

Here are just some of the ways we helped:

  • Contact was made with customers in affected postcodes before the storm/damage, to provide advice on how to prepare for storms and floods. Contact was made after the event to see if a claim needed to be made and allocating a claims handler.
  • For customers whose homes were not flooded, but were unable to gain access due to surrounding area flooding, were paid for alternative accommodation.
  • For those who were in alternative accommodation over the Christmas period we helped by sending money for their Christmas lunch costs and sent a Kindle for each child.
  • For customers who stayed with family and friends rather than move into alternative accommodation, we offered an allowance to help with inconvenience.

So, as we wait for what Mother Nature has in store for us this year, we thought we’d share with you some interesting facts about the UK weather, along with hints and tips on preparing to fight the elements.
