Rain, rain go away, and don’t come back

The end of 2015 saw the UK hit by a barrage of storms, starting with Storm Abigail and ending with Storm Frank in the space of a few weeks. Although it was Storm Desmond which really kicked off the horrendous wet weather period.  Amazingly November and December were very mild, however the rain came and didn’t give up.

Storm Names

Heavy rain combined with strong winds and high waves led to widespread flooding causing significant disruption and damage.  It has been a trying time for all of us, however when the worst happens we step up to deliver the LV= difference, looking after you when you really need us.

Here are just some of the ways we helped:

  • Temporary office set up in Kendal – to provide support and advice about flood damage, further flood prevention and existing flood claims. Our teams were available through most of December and January.
  • Contact was made with customers in affected postcodes before the storm/damage, to provide advice on how to prepare for storms and floods. Contact was made after the event to see if a claim needed to be made and allocating a claims handler.

So, as we wait for what Mother Nature has in store for us this year we thought we’d share with you some interesting facts about the UK weather. Check out our Be Prepared article, packed with hints and tips on preparing for whatever the weather.
