We’re committed to fighting fraud together and are keen to raise awareness of industry trends that may affect you and your customers.
We’ve identified an issue with ‘dummy numbers’. After investigating with a few of our brokers, it’s been confirmed that the ‘dummy numbers’ are produced by aggregators, when the customer doesn’t add a contact number.
Should the sale go through online, brokers do not have the opportunity to update the telephone number field.
The use of ‘dummy’ information does not support our fraud detection process and can leave you open to potential application fraud risks.
What should you do?
First of all, we want you to be aware of our findings, so you can share with your teams. Where possible all data fields should be completed in full with accurate information. If you do suspect application fraud then you should contact your Account Manager immediately.
