On 21 November, we featured on BBC One’s ‘Claimed and Shamed’ TV show with a claims fraud case.
This investigation is just one of many examples of how we collaborate, investigate and secure evidence against those who are negatively impacting our industry.
Synopsis
The policyholder claimed a car reversed into his stationary car, but upon investigation of the damage we concluded that this couldn’t be the case – it seemed as though an instrument (like a hammer) was used to cause the damage. The policyholder’s failure to disclose the true position resulted in his claim being repudiated and us referring the case to Insurance Fraud Enforcement Department (IFED).
